Arbor Village Residents Engage in Enlightening Session with NSRI Guest Speaker
Residents of Arbor Village were privileged to attend an insightful presentation by Ms. Liezel van der Merwe, Public Relations Guest Speaker for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI). She provided an in-depth overview of the NSRI’s pivotal role in safeguarding lives across South Africa’s waters, encompassing both inland and coastal regions.
Ms. van der Merwe highlighted the NSRI’s comprehensive drowning prevention initiatives, including the innovative Survival Swimming Centres and the widely recognised Pink Rescue Buoy programme. These efforts have collectively contributed to a significant reduction in drowning incidents nationwide. Notably, the Pink Rescue Buoy initiative has been instrumental in saving over 200 lives since its inception, with more than 1,400 buoys strategically placed at high-risk locations.
